We’re James Steel and Bryan McCaffrey. Kirk & Granite brings our work together: producing shows and running productions for other producers.
James is based in London; Bryan is in New York. Between us, we work across new musicals, plays, revivals and transfers. You work directly with us, whether you need a general manager for a London run or a producing partner across the Atlantic.
The name comes from home: Kirkintilloch and Aberdeen. We kept a little Scots, too.

James is a London-based producer and general manager working across the West End, Edinburgh, Off-West End and international co-productions. Recent credits include Hit Machine at Soho Theatre, Fly More Than You Fall at Southwark Playhouse Elephant and USHERS: The Front of House Musical.
Bryan leads bpm Theatrical in New York. His producing credits include Beau and When Playwrights Kill, with co-producing credits on Operation Mincemeat, John Proctor Is the Villain and CATS: The Jellicle Ball. He works across Broadway, Off-Broadway and the West End.
A first budget, a full production or a transfer. We can join at the stage you need us.
We put the budget together, negotiate the contracts and run the production’s finances and administration. From rehearsals through to the final settlement, you have someone keeping the whole show in view.
Budgets and cashflow. Payroll and royalties. Company management. Venue agreements, insurance and production compliance.
We help work out how a production can happen: the scale, the partners, the venue and the financial plan. We stay involved as those decisions become contracts, rehearsals and a run.
We produce our own work and co-produce with others, including new musicals, revivals and productions moving between the UK and US.
Production accounts, recoupment reporting and Theatre Tax Relief administration. Rights, licensing, union agreements, visas and company management. We agree the scope with you at the start.
