Kirk & Granite · London + New York
Theatre production and executive producing.
We produce shows, develop new work and work alongside other producers to bring productions to the stage. Kirk & Granite connects James Steel in London and Bryan McCaffrey in New York, with experience across plays, musicals, revivals and international collaborations.
Tell us about your productionFrom the idea to a production plan.
The first questions are often about the route: what the show needs next, where it could play, who needs to be involved and what scale makes sense.
We work through those questions with writers, creative teams, producers and venues. A workshop, an industry presentation or a first production may each serve a different purpose. The plan should respond to the material and the stage it has reached.
We produce work in our own right and co-produce with partners. Our selected credits set out the different roles our founders have held, including producing, executive producing, general management and investment.
Executive producing.
Executive producing helps turn a creative proposal into a workable production. We help establish the scale, partners, venue and financial plan, then stay involved as those decisions become agreements, rehearsals and a run.
Explore our executive producing approach.
Planning the route
Defining the next stage of development, considering venue and producing partnerships, and connecting the proposed schedule with a realistic budget and cashflow.
Bringing the team together
Working through the creative and operational requirements, clarifying responsibilities and negotiating the agreements needed to move forward.
Following the plan through
Keeping an overview as the project develops and coordinating with the people delivering it. Where required, we can also provide general management under an agreed scope.
London and New York.
Our partnership brings a producer based in each city into the same conversation. We work with shows developing in the UK, the US and across both markets, including productions considering a transfer.
A transfer needs its own plan. We help assess the venue, team, timetable and financial implications of the next production, rather than assuming the original model will carry across unchanged.
A useful first conversation.
Send us a short introduction to the show, its development history and what you want to achieve next. Include any proposed dates, attached creatives, venue conversations and budget information you can share.
We can then discuss whether you need a producing partner, executive producing support, a general manager or a defined piece of development work.
Tell us about the show.
Send us the outline, the stage you have reached and what you need help with. We can take it from there.
