International partnerships · London + New York
A local producing partner. An international outlook.
Kirk & Granite works with producers developing plays and musicals for London, New York and collaboration between the UK and US. We bring producing, general management and financial planning into the same conversation, from an early idea to a workshop, presentation or full production.

Start with the show. Build the right plan.
A production moving into a new market needs a plan built around the work, the rights, the available budget and the audience. We help identify the decisions that need to be made before committing to a venue or a run.
The first step might be development, a workshop or an industry presentation. It might be a producing partnership or general management for a planned production. We agree the brief, responsibilities and fee with you before work begins.
How we can work together.
General management
Production and running budgets, cashflow, contracts, payroll, royalties and company administration. We connect the financial plan with the practical delivery of the production.
Executive producing
Working through the scale of the production, potential partners, venue options and the financial plan. We help turn an ambition into an agreed production brief.
Producing and development
Developing new work, co-producing with partners and planning productions moving between the UK and US. We consider what the material needs at its current stage.
The people behind the work.
Our founders bring experience from London, Broadway, Off-Broadway and international development. James Steel’s work through James Steel Productions includes the London presentation of Breaking the Quill, originally Inside William, at The Other Palace.
These credits include work undertaken by the founders through their separate companies. Producing, general management and investment roles vary by project, and are identified in our production credits.
A useful first conversation.
- The material and the rightsSend a short synopsis and tell us who controls the rights. Include a script, score or recording link if available, and the language of the original work.
- The ambition and the resourcesTell us the market you are considering, the stage of development, any proposed dates, the team involved and the budget available or being explored.
- The next stageWe discuss the support needed and agree the scope, responsibilities and fee. Meeting language, translation needs and reporting arrangements can be considered as part of that brief.
Questions from international producers.
Can we speak before a venue or production is confirmed?
Yes. An early conversation can help clarify the scale, budget and work required before a production is committed. Share the information you have, including any decisions that remain open.
How are fees agreed?
Fees depend on the scope, scale and stage of the project. We agree what is included and who is responsible for each part before beginning the work.
How do we handle different languages and time zones?
Tell us your preferred meeting language, location and any translation requirements when you get in touch. We can discuss the communication arrangements needed for the project.
Tell us where you want to take the show.
Send a short outline, any available materials and the support you are looking for. James is based in London and Bryan in New York.
